1946 Piper J3 Cub |
I restored this 1946 J3 Cub around 1998 under the supervision of SDAir with
Scott Draper and his father Herb. Most of it is original, but I added Univair
sealed struts and STC'd shoulder harnesses during the rebuild. The
nose cowl, boot cowl, and wing leading edges are also new from Univair. The
new propeller was added a few years ago. Last year, I was able to buy
an A65 engine that had been removed from a plane in the 60's then "pickled" and
stored in Arizona for the next 40 years. It had 285 hours on it since new and is now mounted on this plane, which has been flown about 40 hours since then.
I have all original logs for the airplane and the engine. This is
quite likely one of the "youngest" old Cubs being flown in the world today. |
